Happy spoookkyyyyy season! After elementary school, I stopped dressing up for Halloween and I totally regret it! It’s so much fun and I look forward to it every year now — the planning/deciding what to dress up as, the creativity and the DIY, and the results!
My niece (rather, my sister) has been holding a Halloween party every year since 2020 and since then I’ve been DIY-ing costumes for her October festivities. Specifically, I’ve been doing Studio Ghibli characters because my sister/niece are also huge Ghibli fans like me~ And because I have MP, we do couple/partner costumes which makes it even more fun!!
For the first year, I HAD to do Kiki and Tombo from Kiki’s Delivery Service — my favorite Ghibli movie~ It was super easy because I got everything we needed off of Amazon! Here are the exact items we bought and used!

If you want to see our other Studio Ghibli costumes/cosplay, check out these links!:
– Ponyo & Sosuke (from Ponyo)
– Kamaji & Rin (from Spirited Away)
Kiki

+ Kiki’s witch’s purple dress (they have a purple color, but I thought the navy blue was a better match)
+ Kiki’s signature red hair tie
+ & for shoes, I wore my own tan flats from Aldo
(Hope you appreciate the horrid low-q no make-up-hair-not-done photos lol)

Tombo

+ Tombo’s striped shirt
+ Tombo’s yellow sweater
+ MP wore his own jeans, brown boots, and glasses

Bonus: Jiji!!

And then for our pumpking carving, we did Jiji and it came out so cuuuuute!!

And that’s all! I hope you all have a Tombo to your Kiki~ Please look forward to the next couple weeks as I’ll share our other past DIY Ghibli costumes! Including how we made our famous Kamaji costume 🙂
Xo,
Em
