Our 5 Favorite Anime!

People probably think, out of the two of us, that I am the one that watches more anime. The truth is, MP is a WEEB!! And he loves having me – his Asian lady- as his coverup to watch more anime, blaming all the anime watching on me when in reality I don’t watch that much anime lol. And he hates that when I do feel like watching an anime with him, it takes “so much longer” because I’m not a binger and I can only handle 1-2 episodes at a time before I get a headache lol.

Someone recently asked me for some anime suggestions so I thought it would make a fun blog post in case anyone else out there is also looking to watch some anime! Since I haven’t seen that many, I recruited MP to share his list because he has seen pretty much every anime out there lol.

Here is our list of our 5 favorite animes! Not necessarily the “best” anime, but our personal favorite five for one reason or another. We can share more anime recommendations in the future if you all are interested!

Emily’s Favorite 5 Animes:

Here are my favorites, in no particular order!

  1. Ouran High School Host Club
This is a personal fav~ I have rewatched it multiple times! I love animes/shows where every character has very distinct personalities – and this show has an amazing “cast” of characters that makes for hilarious dynamics. It is actually so funny and it is the one romance anime I have on this list! Bonus, true OHSHC fans will know they have AMAZING songs that were released separately!
  2. Spy x Family
This anime is SOOOOO cute. But it’s not just cute – it’s wholesome, heartwarming, and funny. And the concept of the show is so adorable – it’s about the world’s #1 spy who enters a fake marriage with an assassin whose brother works for the government, they adopt a telepath, AND they get a dog that can see the future!!
  3. My Hero Academia
MP said I will get hate for putting this on my list but why?!?! It’s a super popular anime for a reason! I have always loved superpower shows, but this anime takes it to the NEXT LEVEL. They have had a lot of seasons, all with different incredible arcs, and the plots are made even more complicated and exciting when all the heroes and villains use their different superpowers to influence it!!
  4. Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood
10’s all across the board. It reminds of the RPG games I used to play. You follow two brothers on an amazing journey and story. Arguably the #1 anime and everybody should watch this.
  5. Azumanga Daioh
This is the very first anime I ever watched, it’s nostalgic to me but I have watched it multiple times as well and still really enjoy it! It’s one of those simple and lighthearted slice of life type animes, but it’s also super random and hilarious.

MP’s Favorite 5 Animes:

  1. Gurren Logan
This anime is my number 1 for many reasons. It is fun, inspiring, and overall it’s about the untamable spirit that we as people have. I have re-watched only a few times but the ending is so incredible I have re-watched that countless times.
  2. FMAB
Full metal Alchemist Brotherhood should be no surprise to anyone who has been on the anime watching journey. It is probably one of the best written anime when it comes to full, well rounded story. It captures a human truth about us and the world around us. Everything comes at a price, whether you are aware of that or not.
  3. Code Geass
This anime is as good as Attack on Titan to me. The reason I put this one, and not Attack on Titan, is because this anime did it first and I think the ending is so strong it really felt like a great pay-off for the overall story. This is by no means the best but it is for sure one of my favorites and a pleasant surprise when I first watched it. It is my “I wish I could watch this for the first time again” anime.
  4. Tora Dora
Tora Dora is probably my favorite in this list. This anime is so special in a medium (romance anime) that is usually so saturated it often gets drowned out by the noise, but still it rises above it all. It is cringe and wholesome in the best way. If you want a romance anime that captures youth and its feeling in a way that is more authentic to how you feel and keeps the realistic actions of an actual person then I can’t say more good things about this anime.
  5. Death Parade
This one almost didn’t make it onto the list as I almost put Naruto (which I have watched all of it, including Shippuden). But Death Parade is one that I think about to this day. It is one that has a concept so interesting and the way they approach it was so entertaining, I feel compelled to include it in my top 5.

Let us know what are some of your favorite animes!!~ We would love to watch them 🙂

P.S. Fun fact one of my cousins is actually quite a famous otaku! She is an anime artist and the photo on this post is from back when I worked at her anime expo booth!!
