I recently had a birthday and suddenly my birthdays messages now say, “Happy 29th Birthday!!” WHAT! I’m not turning 25?! I was once in my early twenties prancin’ my little booty around without a care and out of nowhere I’m now 29. When did this happen…
Here it is, my final year of my beloved twenties. I really cherish my twenties and I am committed to making the most of the last year of my twenties. Here are five things I want to accomplish or get out of my system while I’m still in my twenties, and/or firmly establish ahead of my thirties to prepare for the next chapter of my life.

Squeeze In As Much Travel
We love travelling but we all know travelling can be exhausting, so I want to do all the trips we can fit in right now while our able bodies can maximize doing so! Actually, I am currently writing this blog post on the flight home from a weekend trip! This 1-night trip was so fun but it took a lot out of us which I’m sure will be even more taxing when we’re older, so now is the best time!
Spend The Money
I know this totally goes against my usual budget-conscious self, but I think right now of all times is a good time (and maybe my only time) to ball out and not worry about it. Better to do it now before cash is strapped down by the fat and never-ending bills that are typically associated with the thirties (i.e. a mortgage, new car, and not to potential little humans), and while I am still working a good-paying job (I make big girl / 29-year old money now so let’s enjoy it!). Let’s go big or go home this year!
Take Care Of My Loved Ones
I’m getting older, but so is everyone I love around me. I’ve always prided myself on going above and beyond in taking care of those around me, and if you’re lucky, this blessing (/burden, hah) is hopefully one that you get to have for a very long time. Even though life can get hectic, we always need to find time to take care of our loved ones – whether it’s taking my parents out for more trips or the little things like just shutting down the laptop earlier to cook my family a nice healthy dinner.
Prioritize My Health
My body is unfortunately slowly starting to show its age (e.g. my back!!), so it needs to be a non-negotiable to prioritize taking care of my health, both physical and mental health. In particular, I really want to maintain my stress levels – that is the biggest secret killer that has genuinely been poisoning me for years and I really cannot allow for it anymore. I also need to be proactive about my health and do all the things – like going to my regular doctor/dentist check-ups – and stop making the “I don’t have time” excuses because it is important.
Make The Most Of Every Day
Part of making the most of the last year of my twenties is making the most of every single day. From having slow lovely mornings, to doing what I can to make my 9-5 more enjoyable, to taking the extra 5 minutes to play with my little buddy TaiTai, to having spontaneous date nights with my honey, to doing something every day that is for ME, and thanking the Lord for each and every day and all of its blessings. Tomorrow is never promised.
I’ll end this blog post with a quote that I love and that I think is perfect to for the last year of our twenties: You can’t add days to your life, but you can add life to your days.
Love you,
Em
