The Close: 2017

I was about to write down certain momentous events that have happened within the “past year”….till I realized they were from 2016!! The year has gone by SO fast! I can never decide if that is ever a good or bad thing, but I do know I am glad that I will be documenting it all going forward.

This year was so great and I think it is because I have been taking more action to do what would make me happy.

Education
I started my graduate program this January! It has challenged my academic prowess in a way that…well, in a way that makes me not want to pursue my doctorate’s haha. But, I learned a lot, bonded with professors, and squeezed some certificates and scholarships too (always nice).

Career
2017 I made a lot of big career moves. At age 20, I can afford to be a bit more exploratory, however I am also aware that my choices (even now) can affect mine and my future family’s lifestyle. I worked 4 different jobs this year, with a majority of my year having to balance three jobs while being a full-time graduate student. I was busy and I was tired, but it is a good problem to have.

Family
My father got sick this year, and though it is very scary, he is slowly getting better. We will continue to pray and remember all of the blessings that we have. One of my favorite things that Michael has taught me is that the Lord will always provide. Since my father is ill, he is now unemployed and so our family is down an income. But this year God bestowed on me an AMAZING job that I never expected and I was able to deposit $5k into my father’s account to help take care of him.

Love
I closed one serious relationship to take a chance with the one who arguably had my heart the whole time, and more importantly, had the Lord in his. He and his family have helped make 2017 the best year of my life!

I am so grateful for all of the challenges and opportunities that have been presented to me in 2017. 2017 was the best year yet — but since it will shape much of my 2018 endeavors, I know 2018 will be even better.

Cheers.
